Influence of environmental drivers and inter-specific competion on demography and breeding phenology

Influence of climate change on seasonal demography

As a result of the tilt in the earth’s rotational axis, seasonality is ubiquitous in nature and plays a dynamic role in shaping the life histories of many animals. Species occupying seasonal environments will have evolved seasonal life history phases for coping with the changing environmental and physiological conditions. However, climate change is having profound impacts on animal populations, and is altering the seasonal conditions to which species have adapted. To date demographic studies in general have typically been constrained to estimating annual vital rates, but in order to acquire a more complete understanding of the impact of climate change on population dynamics and fitness, these seasonal demographies need decomposing.
